Ever since the
presidential election last week, news is all a buzz with states wanting to
secede from the U.S.
Honestly I think it’s
all despicable. We voted for who we voted for, some voices were heard well
over others. So take what you are given and try to make the best of it.
Regardless of what I
personally think, I was still intrigued enough to do some research. I was told
the name of the website to view these petitions was we the people. However, I
was not told which dominion. So I tried .com which brought me to an oops page
asking if I meant wethepeopleusa.com, which is actually just a
legal documentation preparation site. So I tried .gov which is a
website for the national endowment of humanities (books people, just books). Org
brings up a domain for sale. Net says social networks demo and edu brings up a
search results page. So far the only way I can find the petitions is
from https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petitions.
Before I go on to tell
you which states have petitions, I must say it is very unorganized. Multiple petitions
for single states with a different number of signatures on each, just very unorganized.
Of those I bet many of the same people signed the multiple petitions. It does
not scream united front to secede!!!! Then again, united isn't really what
people seem to be going for anymore, so I guess that really doesn't matter.
After doing my research,
here is what I found:
*only 25,000 signatures
are required to make it go before the President for his official response*

There is also the
petition for peaceful secession that has 434 signatures and the recount the
election that has 48,757 signatures.
It is our constitutional
right to send out petitions, so by no means am I trying to say no don't do it. But
I am saying make sure it is what you really want. When Lincoln was our
president the south was so angered that they seceded and a civil war broke out.
Hundreds of thousands of lives were lost. So it really is something to think
about. Remember you have the right to sign a petition if you want to secede but
you also have a right to move, and others have a right to sign a petition to
stop the secession. I've come across at least three of those:
Keep the U.S.
United has 248 signatures
Deport everyone that signed
a petition to withdraw their state from the United States of America has 11,925
signatures
Strip the citizenship
from everyone who signed a petition to secede and exile them has 6,991
signatures
There is also the more
asinine petition called justice for Missouri secession. This actually calls for
a national pizza party so that those loyal to the U.S. can shove pizza in the
face of those in Missouri that wish to secede. This one has 565 signatures.
By the time you get
around to check out the correct website the numbers may have changed. The last
time I look was 11:34 pm on 11/13/2012. Let me know what changes.
